In a proactive effort to enhance disaster preparedness and community resilience, the employees of Paramount Property Ventures, Inc. (PPVI) joined hands with Barangay Cogon in Compostela, Cebu for a Disaster Risk Reduction & Management (DRRM) activity on August 5, 2023.
Led by Barangay Captain Carmelito Diano Calderon, this collaborative endeavor aimed to strengthen the capacity of the local community to effectively respond to emergencies and protect the lives and property of its residents.
“We want to thank Barangay Cogon for giving us an opportunity to be actively involved in their DRRM activity. This is one of the ways we can contribute beyond our core operations. As a company, we also want to impact the lives of individuals and families in local communities,” said PPVI Vice President for Sales and Marketing Arli Cañedo.
A Unified Approach to Disaster Preparedness
Located in Barangay Cogon, Purok Cornerian & Proper 3, Compostela, Cebu, this initiative brought together the PPVI employees and community members in a concerted effort to promote disaster preparedness. The event witnessed active participation from 100 families/residents, highlighting the shared commitment towards safeguarding the well-being and quality of life for everyone in the area.
The primary objective of the activity was to provide much-needed support to individuals and families who are in need, underscoring the importance of community well-being. The participants received comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to effectively address emergencies.
The training was organized in clusters based on puroks within Barangay Cogon, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among neighbors. By engaging in focused training sessions, participants were able to acquire specialized skills tailored to the unique challenges of their respective areas within the barangay.
Fostering Lasting Partnerships
The collaboration between PPVI and Barangay Cogon underscores the significance of public-private partnerships in promoting community well-being.
Calderon emphasized the importance of such partnerships in building a resilient and empowered community. He expressed gratitude for the dedication of PPVI and its employees in prioritizing community engagement and disaster preparedness.
